Twin River Law LLP
Pro Bono Project
At Twin River Law we believe in giving back to our community. That’s why we started the Twin River Law Pro Bono Project (“PBP”).
The goal of the PBP is simple: to find new projects that allow us to apply our legal knowledge and experience for the betterment of our community. Instead of sitting on the board of directors of community organizations where our contributions would be limited by potential conflicts of interest, lack of insurance coverage and the loss of solicitor-client privilege, we accept applications through the PBP to act as outside legal counsel providing services for free or on a substantially reduced basis.
Potential PBP projects are approved on a case by case basis after taking into consideration the number of PBP files currently ongoing, potential contribution to the community, and the project’s fit within our firm’s areas of focus. The following are examples of the types of files we’re looking for as part of the PBP:
|Area/Type of Law||Potential Issues|
|Litigation||Acting for a non-profit or charitable organisation with respect to a legal dispute (claims or defence of contract problems, human rights complaints, etc.)|
|Trademarks||Representing a non-profit or charitable organisation with respect to the registration of a trademark or official mark, or with respect to a registered or non-registered trademark dispute|
|Copyright||Representing a non-profit or charitable organisation with respect to the registration of copyright, copyright enforcement, licensing or other copyright matters|
|Employment||Acting for a non-profit or charitable organisation with respect to employment disputes, contracts, policies, etc.|
|Information Technology||Acting for a non-profit or charitable organisation with respect to technology or privacy law matters such as advising on privacy compliance, dealing with data protection and disclosure, website contracts, etc.|
Here are a few of the organizations we’ve assisted through the Pro Bono Project so far:
Due to the number of PBP projects currently ongoing, we are not accepting applications for new projects at this time. Once our existing projects have wrapped up and we have more time available for new projects we’ll update this page with application details.
